ALMA Limoncello is a Mexican reinterpretation of the Italian classic.
Instead of using yellow lemons, as traditionally done in Italy, we craft our limoncello with fresh Mexican limes. The result? A citrus liqueur that’s brighter, more vibrant, and full of personality — just like Mexico itself.
Why do we call it “Limoncello” and not “Limecello”?
In Mexico, the word limón refers to what English speakers call lime — the small, green, aromatic fruit. Yellow lemons exist, but they’re far less common and usually called limón amarillo.
So even though ALMA is made with limes, we call it limoncello, because in our culture, lime is limón.
That said, in countries like the US and across Europe, people often refer to it as limecello — to highlight the difference in fruit and flavor.
